PURPOSE

The purpose of the SELFLESS EFY Assistance Program is to promote faith and leadership in youth by providing an opportunity for individuals – those who otherwise may not have the opportunity due to financial constraints –to attend Especially for Youth (EFY) summer camps. EFY is a 5-day summer camp at Brigham Young University that aligns with the standards and teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Youth who attend these camps learn important lessons about their identity and worth and gain valuable skills in goal setting, leadership, and communication. The amount awarded will include costs such as: camp registration, travel, meals, and lodging.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

The SELFLESS Especially for Youth (EFY) Assistance Program is a unique opportunity for individuals ages 13-18 to attend 5-day summer camp to strengthen their commitment to live the gospel of Jesus Christ and participate in learning opportunities and wholesome experiences that enrich their spiritual, social, physical, and intellectual development.

SELFLESS does not award predetermined amounts as part of this program. If you are selected as a recipient, you will meet with a mentor to review your plans to attend EFY and determine the amount of the grant, which will include the cost of the camp as well as any necessary costs you will incur to travel to and from the camp. Participants will attend EFY at Brigham Young University in Provo or in other locations that will be considered if the dates or location are more favorable logistically for scheduling or travel. Special Edition EFY sessions may be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to attend a Special Edition session of EFY, please explain this in your Personal Essay and it will be considered.

CRITERIA & ELIGIBILITY

  1. A youth must be at least 14 years old on or before December 31 of the year they attend, meaning that 13-year-olds can attend as long as they will be 14 by the end of the year.
